When engaging the services of Gotham Removals, the following terms and conditions shall apply:
1. Payment Terms
Payment must be settled in full with the driver immediately upon completion of the job.
In the event of non-payment at the time of job completion, the outstanding account will be referred to a debt collection agency or legal representative for recovery.
Any associated commissions, agency fees, and legal costs incurred during the recovery process will be added to the outstanding amount and will form part of the debt payable by the customer.
2. Accepted Payment Methods
Gotham Removals accepts the following payment methods:
Cash
Bank transfer
Visa/Mastercard credit cards (subject to a 3% surcharge).
3. Service Charges
A minimum charge of two hours applies, with additional time calculated in half-hour increments.
A cancellation fee equivalent to the two-hour minimum charge applies to last-minute cancellations.
A toll charge of $30 will be applied if CityLink or EastLink is used during the move.
Additional charges apply for the handling of heavy or specialty items, such as upright pianos
4. Insurance Coverage
Gotham Removals provides insurance coverage up to $50,000 for the duration of the move, from commencement to completion.
All claims for damages must be reported to our office prior to signing off on the move.
The company does not assume liability for pre-existing damage. Customers with goods exceeding $50,000 in value are advised to secure additional insurance coverage.
Insurance for marble or concrete-top tables is limited to instances where the item is dropped by our removalists. Due to the nature of such items, cracks or damages resulting from their own weight or structural integrity are not covered.
5. Liability and Exclusions
Gotham Removals accepts no responsibility for any parking infringements incurred during the move. It is the customer’s responsibility to arrange parking permits where required.
Items such as pot plants, glass, and glassware are not covered under our insurance policy.
Where our removalists are found to be at fault for damages, all repairs will be conducted exclusively by repairers appointed by Gotham Removals.
6. Cancellations and Misinformation
If Gotham Removals is unable to complete the move due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to inaccurate information provided regarding property access or the nature of the items being moved, a two-hour minimum charge and a call-out fee will apply.
7. Door-to-Door and Overnight Charges
Door-to-Door Charges: Charges commence when the loading process begins at the pick-up address and continue until the vehicle returns to our depot.
Overnight Storage: Overnight storage fees cover the safekeeping of items only. Charges will resume the following morning when the vehicle departs the depot and continue until the completion of delivery.
8. Non-Payment and Retention of Goods
In the event of non-payment, Gotham Removals reserves the right to retain possession of the customer’s goods until the outstanding balance is paid in full.
Where payment remains outstanding beyond a reasonable period, Gotham Removals may take steps to dispose of the goods in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Victoria).
Proceeds from the disposal of goods will first be applied to cover outstanding charges, including any storage and disposal costs. Any surplus funds will be returned to the customer.
9. Additional Service Terms
Half-Hour Increments: After the minimum two-hour charge for two men (or four-hour charge for three men), charges are calculated in half-hour increments. Any partial time within a half-hour period will be rounded up and charged as a full half-hour.
Acknowledgment and Acceptance:
By engaging Gotham Removals, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions set out above
